
My research puts the social function of museums and cultural sites at its heart. I am experienced in facilitating critical, reflective conversations around collections. To support institutions in serving communities and building shared heritage, my work incorporates public engagement and collaborative practice to reimagine objects, collections and contemporary relevance. In March 2020, this work developed to include co-researched art historical work investigating much discussed but unpublished work on Black representation in the Barber Institute’s collection.
A summary of the collaborative research into the representation of the boy in Murillo’s Marriage at Cana can be read online as part of the Guardian’s Great British Art Tour. A longer article considering the intersection between race, religion and liberty in 17th century Spain is due to be published through Midlands Art Papers in May 2021.
